Curriculum and Instruction
At Mammoth Elementary School, we are committed to providing a well-rounded, standards-based education that supports academic growth, language development, and student inquiry. Our school focus is Ponder, Persevere and Prove it!
STANDARDS
Mammoth Elementary School aligns instruction with the California State Standards, which provide clear, consistent expectations for what students should learn at each grade level to be prepared for college, career, and life.
California Department of Education – Content Standards
ENGLISH AND SPANISH LANGUAGE ARTS
We use Benchmark Advance and Benchmark Adelante as our core English and Spanish Language Arts programs. These resources provide comprehensive instruction in reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar, while supporting students with engaging texts across genres.
For English learners, we offer designated and integrated English Language Development (ELD) to ensure access to academic content and support language acquisition in all settings.
MATH
Our school uses Eureka Math², a rigorous and research-based program that builds deep understanding of mathematical concepts through problem-solving, visual models, and real-world application. Eureka Math² supports learners at all levels and aligns closely with the California Mathematics Standards.
SCIENCE
MES uses PhD Science to promote scientific inquiry and critical thinking. This curriculum emphasizes hands-on investigation, student questioning, and real-world phenomena, helping students develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts and processes.
HISTORY - SOCIAL SCIENCE
Our History–Social Science instruction is based on the California State Standards and emphasizes inquiry, civic understanding, and historical thinking. Students explore local, state, national, and global history while building reading, writing, and analytical skills. Grade-level content is taught through engaging units that connect the past to the present.
